Tides of Annihilation wins Most Epic award at gamescom 2026

Tides of Annihilation has just picked up the Most Epic award at gamescom 2026, giving Eclipse Glow Games’ stylish Arthurian action-adventure another very shiny feather for its cap. The game already has a ruined London, spectral knights and an otherworldly invasion; now it has an award title that sounds like it was designed in a boardroom with a sword on the table.

The award was announced by developer and publisher Eclipse Glow Games during gamescom in Cologne on Aug. 28. According to the announcement, Tides of Annihilation beat established names including Crimson Desert and Warhammer 40,000 to take the prize.

Eclipse Glow says the award recognises the game’s intense combat, cinematic presentation and its unusual collision of Arthurian legend with a shattered modern London. The studio’s new trailer premiered at Opening Night Live, while a global hands-on demo was available at Hall 6, giving attendees a chance to try the action-RPG rather than merely admire another glossy slice of pre-release footage.

A very big idea in a very broken city

The premise is gloriously overcooked in the best possible way. London has been torn apart by an “Outworld Invasion”, and Gwendolyn crosses the devastated modern city and the mythical realm of Avalon while trying to save her sister and uncover the source of her newfound powers. The game’s official site describes spectral knights fighting alongside Gwendolyn as she attempts to piece a broken world back together.

That mix is what makes the award feel understandable, even if “Most Epic” is not exactly a microscope-sharp category. A modern metropolis collapsing into Arthurian myth gives Eclipse Glow plenty of room for giant boss battles, extravagant set pieces and the sort of skyline that makes urban planning look like a personal insult.

When can you play it?

There is still no release date attached to the announcement. Tides of Annihilation is in development for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, according to Eclipse Glow Games.

Our opinion

An award is not a launch date, and it certainly is not proof that the combat will hold up after the trailers stop doing the heavy lifting. Still, Tides of Annihilation has a clearer identity than many upcoming action games: ruined London, Arthurian mythology and a spectral-knight combat system is a properly memorable pitch.

The sensible move is to keep watching rather than start polishing the review score. Eclipse Glow has earned the attention, but the game still needs to show that its epic ambitions can survive contact with an actual controller.
